This week Michael Gervers, a Professor in the Department of History, took part in a new course to learn the ancient Ethiopian language of Ge’ez. In offering the new course, the University of Toronto becomes one of the few places students can go to learn the language. Professor Gervers helped launch the course with a $50,000 donation and a request to the Ethiopian community in Toronto to match his donation.
