With workers on strike and the resulting closure of the Toronto Zoo last week, some residents have been questioning whether the city needs animal attractions in 2017. With his new book The Animal Game: Searching for Wildness at the American Zoo published last year, Professor Daniel Bender was called on to comment on the complex issues surrounding zoos for the Toronto Star.
