Professor Charlie Keil Speaks about Drawing Filmmakers to Toronto

January 26, 2017 by Department of History Staff

As Toronto Mayor John Tory is in Los Angeles courting producers, Professor Charlie Keil talks to UofT News about the draw of Toronto for filmmakers. Keil discusses how the low Canadian dollar along with developed infrastructure (e.g. sound stages) makes Canada an appealing location for producers and companies to make films. With much competition, Keil notes that the Mayor’s visit serves as a reminder “that Toronto is a great place to make film and television.”
