Description

Days before the commemoration of Nakba day, join us for a pertinent discussion on biopolitics in Palestine, bridging history, theory, and the ongoing reality of violence on ground. The event features a panel discussion, titled "Colonial Biopolitics & Resilience: Food, Health, and Bodies in Occupied Palestine" chaired by Dr. Esmat Elhalaby (UofT) in conversation with Dr. Muhannad Ayyash (Mount Royal University), Dr. Ahmed Abu Shaban (Al Azhar University Gaza, York University)and Dr. Wafaa Hasan (UofT). Following the panel, we will screen the critically acclaimed experimental documentary Foragers by Jumana Mannaa that follows Palestinian foraging traditions criminalized by Israeli law, revealing resilience amid land dispossession and questioning who controls memory and erasure.
