Biography

Jane Abray taught in the Department of History and has been cross-appointed into the Department for the Study of Religion. She completed her BA at Western University, MA at McMaster University, and MPhil and PhD at Yale University. She is a specialist in early modern European history, working primarily in the fields of Reformation history and gender history in Western Europe. She has published on church and state and lay piety in reformation Strasbourg and is currently exploring issues in the history of masculinity in 16th century France and England. She prepares students for research in comparative early modern women’s history and general early modern history.
