Christopher Lawson
Christopher Lawson is an historian of imperial and post-imperial Britain and joins the Department of History as an Arts & Science Postdoctoral Fellow. His work focuses on the intersection of decolonisation, deindustrialisation, the transformation of cities, and the rise of ‘neo-liberalism’ in the mid-to-late 20th century. He is particularly interested in tracing how structural economic changes interact with pre-existing inequalities of class, race and gender to produce segregation, exclusion and exploitation. His current book project is a comprehensive study of deindustrialisation’s impact on diverse communities and its role in the social and cultural transformations of contemporary Britain.
