Prof. Dian Million - "We are the land and the land is us": Indigenous land, lives and embodied ecologies in the 21st century"

You are invited to the Department of Anthropology's Second Biannual Krystyna Sieciechowicz Memorial Lecture featuring Professor Dian Million.

Prof. Million is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington whose research explores Native American gender, health, race and ethnicity. Her most recent book, Therapeutic Nations: Healing in an Age of Indigenous Human Rights (University of Arizona Press, Critical Issues in Indigenous Studies Series, 2013) is a discussion of trauma as a political narrative in the struggle for Indigenous self-determination in an era of global neoliberalism.

In her talk Prof. Million will build on Krystyna Sieciechowicz's elemental work on kinship and land stewardship in the north by exploring how enduring relations with place and land, along with mobile kinships provide a continuing resistance to settler colonialism.
