Field: Early American cinema, twentieth-century popular culture, American cultural history

Rob King's research focuses on the intersection of class and popular culture in early twentieth-century America, with a particular focus on early cinema and slapstick comedy. He is the author of The Fun Factory: The Keystone Film Company and the Emergence of Mass Culture (University of California Press, 2008) and co-editor of Early Cinema and the 'Nation' (John Libbey Press, 2008). Other published work includes an article on child stardom in the silent era, a study of the Triangle Film Corporation, and numerous essays on slapstick comedy and comedians.
