2019-2020 PRE-DISSERTATION RESEARCH AWARD
Only PhD students in their first or second year are eligible to apply
The Department of History Pre-Dissertation Research Award supports students for up to $2,000.00 for research travel intended to explore archives or libraries with the intention to elaborate a viable thesis topic. The deadline to apply is Friday, June 7, 2019.
Students receiving this award are reimbursed for expenses of travel and accommodation to a maximum of $2,000.00. Original receipts (including boarding passes) must be submitted to the Graduate Office for reimbursement after the research travel.
Note: This is a ONE TIME AWARD only. Think carefully about when it will benefit you most – before or after Comprehensive examinations. Preference will be given to students who are in second year and are finishing/ have completed the Comprehensive examinations and who have not yet received this award.
Students must submit the following in a single PDF file to the firstname.lastname@example.org by 4:30 pm on the deadline above:
- Application Form (below)
- Short description of research and travel plan and relevance (one page)
- Detailed budget
- Letter from supervisor stating importance of this travel to research (to be submitted directly to email@example.com)
- Completed Financial Need Assessment Form - OSOTF form (if applicable)
